5-Years-Old Girl Starts an Online Movement to Cheer up Sick Children

Alexis Blackburn, 5, was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was only 3 years old. Since the terrible diagnose this little girl was in and out of hospitals for the last several years. Her dad recently uploaded a picture of his girl after she had her colon removed and something happened!

Kyle posted the picture on the popular website Reddit with the caption ‘My daughter had her colon removed 3 days ago. She found the strength to walk to the playroom yesterday." It breaks my heart just reading it, but hundreds of Reddit followers responded to Kyle and asked if Alexis loved cards – the next day and the day after and the day after Alexis received hundreds of get well cards from people around the world who read her story.

Alexis posted a picture on Reddit smiling surrounded by all the cards she has received. That’s when another person started a thread asking if other sick children wanted to receive cards.

Since then the movement has exploded – with people posting pictures of the cards and care packages they’ve sent to other children to try to cheer them up!

As for Alexis her mom said that her little girl is doing much better after a week of not being able to eat!
