Johnny Cash was among 11 artists inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, during a ceremony at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

Charlie Daniels suffered a mild stroke while snowmobiling in Colorado. He recovered and was released 2 days later.
2005
Kenny Chesney represented country music by performing as part of a telethon and concert to raise money for victims of a recent tsunami in Southeast Asia, while Brad Paisley raised more than $100,000 for his hometown of Glen Dale, West Virginia, during a stop on his Mud & Suds Tour. The area had been hit hard by flooding the year before.

Johnny Cash’s album, Johnny Cash At San Quentin, and Glen Campbell “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” were among recordings inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Patty Loveless introduces Ralph Stanley as a new member of the Grand Ole Opry.
1999
During the Grand Ole Opry’s first show at the Ryman Auditorium in 25 years, Trisha Yearwood was asked to become a member of the Opry.
The Opry shows had moved to Opryland in 1974 and began a winter run at the Ryman that night for the first time.
Since 1999, the Opry has held shows at the Ryman during the winter months then returned to Opryland for the rest of the year.
1998
Garth Brooks reached an undisclosed settlement with songwriter Guy Thomas, who claimed Garth had lifted rifts from a tune he wrote for pop singer Kenny Loggins called Convictions of the Heart and used them for “Standing Outside the Fire”.
1993
Billy Ray Cyrus’ album Some Gave All was certified multi-platinum for sales of 6 million copies. Singles from the album included “Achy Breaky Heart” (#1), “She’s Not Cryin’ Anymore” (#6), "Where'm I Gonna Live?" (#23) and “Could’ve Been Me” (#2).
"Some Gave All" also reached number 52 based on unsolicited airplay. the album has since been certified 6x platinum by the RIAA
