A First for Willie Nelson...Number One Song That Is

Born in 1933, Willie Nelson had to wait until 1975 for his very first number one as a solo artist. He saw almost immediate success as a songwriter, with songs like Hello Walls, Pretty Paper, Crazy, and Funny How Time Slips Away. Nelson recorded his firs album in 1962, and while he saw some success it was on this day in 1975 that he hit the top of the charts with a cover song,Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain.

Willie Nelson and Eddie Rabbitt, both artists this week that started as songwriters and ended as chart toppers with this week's KLAW Classic.
