Girl Scouts Turn 100!
Did you know that Girl Scouts turns 100 next year! Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout troop on March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia. Today, there are 3.2 million Girl Scouts; 2.3 million girl members and 880,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.
Many years ago I was also a girl scout. I remember looking forward to our Girl Scout meetings and especially the outdoor activities. Ms. Low herself was a big fan of the outdoors. You can read all about the Girl Scouts on their website. There is some great information about the organization and how you can get your long girls involved in the group and maybe even volunteer yourself!
I am very excited to be talking with the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma. They will be featured on our Community Focus segment on November 13th. I will be talking with Stephanie Browne, Community Development Executive. The Girl Scouts are excited to be working with local schools in building the self-esteem of the young ladies in our community. I’m looking forward to finding out more about it!
Thank you Brooklyn, Aliza and Taylor for stopping by and giving me the best hugs EVER! And thank you Miss Lawanda for bringing them by to see me. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of them.
Celebrate with the Girl Scouts! They will have a lot of activities scheduled for their 100th anniversary. OH and cookies go on sale in January!
