Alan Jackson is asking for prayers for the family of a very special young fan who passed away after a valiant battle with cancer.

Jackson met JoshuaJohn "JDub" Waldrop in 2015. The boy, who was 4 years old at the time, had been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. The Rutledge, Tenn., native's lifelong wish was to meet Jackson, who was his favorite country singer. So, Jackson sent a limo to pick up JDub and his family and brought them to Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, where he performed and gave him an autographed guitar.

On Jan. 24, 2017, Waldrop passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 7 years old. A local station reported his death, and upon hearing the news, Jackson shared a heartfelt post of remembrance on his Facebook page with a photo of his young fan. In his message, Jackson urged fans to pray for the young boy's family.
