I understand the heritage argument, but is it really appropriate to welcome President Obama to our state by parading around with Confederate battle flags?

In case you didn't know, POTUS is coming to Oklahoma to do two things...

1 - He's giving a talk in Durant about a plan to expand high-speed internet across the state.
2 - He's heading up to the Federal Pen in El Reno, for reasons I didn't care enough about to Google.

The President hasn't spent much time in this state during his reign. I can only think of one or two instances in the past where he made the stopover here. Mostly having to do with our oil and gas industries and the Keystone pipeline.

Now, I'm not a fan of political correctness, but this heritage parade just seems in poor taste. Not because of the current racial bias that is seeing this flags downfall, I honestly don't think every person waving the rebel flag is beaming with prejudice... I just think it's a poor representation of who we are.

It's sad to think, when the news wire lights off tonight across the nation, Oklahoma will once again be cast in a shadow of hillbillery.
