Just a few minutes ago, James Holmes, the man responsible for killing 12 and injuring 58 others, appeared before a judge. His attorney accompanied him. Check out the exclusive photos.

Family members of three of Holmes’ victims were in court this morning, but Holmes parents were not. In fact the police officers confirmed that his parents are uncooperative.

Experts speculate that the district attorney will in fact seek the death penalty, but no official statement has been made yet. Colorado hasn’t executed anyone since 1977.

It seems Holmes was drugged during his first court appearance. He could barely keep his eyes open and he didn’t express any emotions. Officers connected to the case said that Holmes has been in solitary confinement since he was arrested Friday morning, and even though his father is in Aurora he has not seen his son.

Neighbors of the Holmes family describe James E Holmes as bright and very intelligent, and the police officers working the case confirmed  that by saying they have never seen such complicate bombs being build by someone with no professional training.

So what happened to the bright 18-year-old science wizard? What when wrong and why his parents didn’t try to get him some help since his mom wasn’t a bit surprise by what her son had done when contacted by the media on the morning of the Aurora shooting?

We will find answers to some of these questions during the trial but whatever they might be how much closure would they bring to the families who lost loved ones?
