Vin Diesel and Helen Mirren Share Secrets in New ‘Fast 8’ Photo
You’ve probably heard that Vin Diesel recently became the first celebrity to reach over 100 million likes on Facebook — a level of validation that mere mortals such as you or I may never know. A lot of those likes are the result of Diesel’s commitment to his fans and to sharing photos from his new films, like the latest pic from the set of Fast 8, which features your new favorite BFF pairing: Diesel and Dame Helen Mirren.
Jai Courtney Says It’s Time to Leave ‘Terminator’ Alone (Unless There’s a Role For Him in Another Sequel)
If you interview the star of a major franchise and you don’t ask them about the future of said franchise, then did your interview ever really happen at all? We may never know the answer to such existential journalistic questions, but thanks to a new interview, we now know how Jai Courtney feels about the possibility of making more Terminator movies. The answer: No…but maybe yes?
‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ Sets a 2018 Release Date
Just in case you didn’t learn enough about the secret life of pets this summer, you’ll get a second chance in 2018. Illumination and Universal Pictures are officially developing a sequel to The Secret Life of Pets, the cute animated film that gave animals the Toy Story treatment — and gave you something enjoyable to watch during this lackluster movie season.
New ‘Storks’ Trailer Proves Baby Delivery Is For the Birds
Not even sorry about that headline, guys. In more amusing news, here’s the latest trailer for Storks, a new animated adventure from Warner Bros. starring Andy Samberg(’s voice) as a stork who teams up with a human to deliver a bundle of joy to a hopeful family. Sounds pretty cute, but in a year filled with animated movies about talking animals, Storks is gonna need to give us a little something extra.
Everything You Need to Know About Harley Quinn, From Breakout Batman Villain to ‘Suicide Squad’
Ever since WB released the first teaser for Suicide Squad, one thing has been abundantly clear: Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is the star of David Ayer’s DC super-villain ensemble piece. But for those unfamiliar with The Joker’s occasional sidekick and love interest, the beautifully bonkers and charmingly crazy villain is a bit of a mystery. To help you out, we’ve created a brief primer for The Dark Knight’s most delightful baddie, revisiting some of the character’s most notable moments and tracing her history from breakout Batman villain to Suicide Squad.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Won’t Have Infinity Stones or Infinity Gauntlets or Infinity Anything, Really
We’ve known for quite some time that Thanos won’t be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which will instead focus on Star-Lord’s dad (Kurt Russell) and a new set of problems — including Ayesha and some very unhappy Ravagers. But it looks like the big angry purple guy isn’t the only one who (literally) won’t be in the picture, as director James Gunn has confirmed that the sequel doesn’t feature any of those pesky Infinity Stones, either.
‘Pete’s Dragon’ Unleashes One More Magical Trailer
This has been an underwhelming summer (to say the least), but there’s still hope that August will end this movie season on a positive note. One of our most anticipated releases of the month is Pete’s Dragon, which our own Erin Whitney calls a “worthy remake” and “one of the most stunning live-action animation hybrids Disney has made in years.” That’s the sort of praise that could really get you excited for Disney’s latest reimagining, but just in case you needed a little extra convincing, this new trailer is pretty persuasive.
‘Splash’ Remake Casts Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell in Gender-Swapped Roles
Earlier this month producer Brian Grazer let slip that he was working with Disney on a new remake of Splash, which would reimagine Ron Howard’s 1984 classic with a bit of a twist. And while Grazer was annoyingly coy about it, we all assumed that it would have something to do with gender-swapping the lead roles — and that assumption has proven correct, as Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell have signed on to star in the remake, which will apparently fulfill the dreams of those who have a very specific fetish.
Jeremy Renner Really Wanted Hawkeye to Die in ‘The Avengers’
The general consensus among most Marvel fans is that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is the worst part of the first Avengers movie. It’s not that Renner is particularly bad in the role, per se — he just doesn’t have anything to do, and you needn’t look any further than Hawkeye’s great arc in Age of Ultron for proof of how terribly underutilized he was in that first Avengers outing. As it turns out, Renner himself is painfully aware of this fact — so much so that he went to great lengths to try and get Hawkeye killed off in The Avengers.
‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Poster Features Optimus Prime Fighting…Dragons??
Despite regular photo updates from Michael Bay, we still don’t know much about the plot for Transformers: The Last Knight. We do know that the next installment in the franchise features some new and returning faces — both human and bot — and…that’s about it. But the first official poster for the upcoming sequel may offer a clue — kind of. Sort of. Well, it involves dragons, apparently.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Photos Show Off Detective Thor’s Doodles and Valkyrie’s Sword
Marvel really delivered the goods at Comic-Con last weekend, and while the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage got everyone in Hall H pretty pumped, nothing was as awesome as the short film Taika Waititi made for Thor: Ragnarok. Although that footage hasn’t made its way online (and probably won’t anytime soon), Waititi has shared a couple of pieces from the short, which shows us what Thor was up to while the Avengers were off fighting in their big Civil War.
‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Gets a Hilarious New Trailer For Comic-Con
To be honest, we were already sold on The LEGO Batman Movie based on the hilarious teaser alone, but after getting our first look at The Joker and Robin (and Harley Quinn!) earlier this week, we’ve been looking forward to watching a full trailer for the mini-Dark Knight’s animated adventure. And now that trailer has officially arrived, giving us a better sneak peek at The LEGO Movie spinoff starring Will Arnett’s delightfully narcissistic Batman.
