The K-LAW Saturday Classic was the #1 song 34 years ago this weekend - November 11th, 1978. It's the first ever #1 song from the first performer ever to win the CMA Entertainer of the Year award twice.

Barbara Mandrell was the oldest daughter born into a musical family in Houston, Texas on Christmas Day, 1948. She was reading music and playing the accordion at age 5. By the time she was 11, she was so good on steel guitar that her father took her to a music trade convention in Chicago. That's where she caught the eyes and ears of Chet Atkins. Soon after, she was a featured performer at a Vegas nightclub, and was well on her way to becoming a country superstar.

From Barbara Mandrell, here's 'Sleeping Single In A Double Bed'.
