Lawton and Wichita Falls

It's hot! I know - understatement of the year. Well, if you're tired of staying indoors where it's nice and cool, you could venture out and find some water. That reminds me - LATS just started running bus routes to LETRA, one of many choices when it comes to lakes. The LETRA EXPRESS runs Fridays and Saturdays through August 13th. Some of you have access to a pool. Great choice, providing the water isn't any shade of green. You could run up your water bill and let the kids run through the sprinkler in the back yard. Or you could put everyone in the car and head to the waterpark. Lawton has the Comanche Nation Waterpark near I-44 & Gore. And if you don't mind the 3 bucks in tolls and the little more than 100 mile round trip, you could visit Castaway Cove Waterpark in Wichita Falls. Whichever way you go, don't forget the sunscreen!

Egg

Anywhere in Texoma

I don't have a sidewalk near my house, so I tried frying an egg on the blacktop road out front. My wife was convinced that egg would turn white. I had my doubts. Turns out I was right. That's a nice change of pace for me. And don't think I won't spend the next few weeks reminding my wife about "that time I was right". Anyway, it didn't fry. Maybe if we string a few more days of 100+ temperatures together...

Insert Mark Chesnutt here. "Too hot to fish, too hot for golf...". One of my favorite outdoor activities when it's this hot is turning around and going back in the house. Let's see - 75 degrees or 105 degrees? Tough choice.

2.) SIT ON A BLOCK OF ICE

Anywhere you can find one

Ever sit on a block of ice? Me neither, but I would imagine it would provide some instant heat relief - from the bottom up. I also imagine that after a while you would start to lose the feeling in your bottom. A small price to pay, I guess. So if you happen upon a block of ice, consider taking a seat. But don't think about it too long. A block of ice + 105 degree heat = a puddle of water, eventually.

Ft. Sill's Polo Field

It would have to be a special concert to get me out of the house when it's this hot. Saturday night's concert lineup at Ft. Sill's Polo Field is special, to say the least. Miranda Lambert, Merle Haggard and Stoney LaRue will all be on stage. For all the info on the show, check out the K-LAW 101 events page.
