The town of Gernonimo is planning a big party to celebrate the town's birthday this weekend, a celebration that is expected to be bigger and better than ever before. With activities for the whole family that include a parade, powwow, mutton bustin', a fire house breakfast, chili cookoff. The annual Geronimo Bull Riding Classic will also take place, with competitors and bulls heading to Geronimo from all over the country. The activities will benefit the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department.

While the bull riders are in town, MTV will have a crew in town filming one of the competitors. The cable channel is doing a "day-in-the life" segment featuring one of the bull riders. During the parade, Kevin Murphy and Tommy Penlend, retired Geronimo firefighters will be honored. In addition to entries from local Geronimo Schools, over 30 other entries have been added to the parade.

A brisket dinner will be the centerpiece of the fire house barbecue, which will take place immediately following the parade. The barbecue will feature gospel music, to be followed by a pow wow, and mutton busting. Saturday will culminate with a teen glow dance. Mayor Kevin Bayman says that it is a great opportunity for Geronimo resident to pay tribute to one of the best Volunteer Fire Departments in Oklahoma.
