Harrison Ford won’t be the only familiar face in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049. Actor Edward James Olmos revealed on Tuesday that he’ll reprise his role as Gaff in the upcoming movie.

As spotted by A Perfect Organism podcast (h/t Bleeding Cool), Olmos stopped by TheTREND Talk Show last week and dropped the big news. When host Bel Hernandez asked Olmos about a rumor that he wouldn’t appear in the new movie, the actor revealed he was under strict contract about his involvement. “I signed a seven page non-disclosure contract,” he said. “I couldn’t talk to anybody about it.” But apparently his contract has reached its embargo and Olmos can now spill the news:

But guess what? This is the first time that I’m telling everybody and telling the world right now, that yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.

In the original film Olmos’ Blade Runner Edward Gaff only had a handful of scenes, but he’ll have even less this time. The actor revealed he’ll only appear in one scene in Villeneuve’s movie, but he’ll still play a vital role. When asked about his character Olmos said of the film, “It’s about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then. They come to me. I am now retired.” That someone looking for answers is likely Ryan Gosling’s Officer K, who makes a discovery that leads to Ford’s Deckard. Here’s the full synopsis:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 also stars Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto Carla Juri, Ana de Armas and Sylvia Hoeks. It been rumored that one of the four original replicants might show up in the new movie, so Olmos might not be the only one reprising a character beside Ford. The film hits theaters October 6.
