Blake Shelton’s “Healing in the Heartland” benefit concert will be held on Wednesday, May 29th at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. The event will be televised live on NBC.

Shelton, a resident of nearby Ada, announced plans for the benefit after Tuesday's episode of "The Voice." A lineup and more details are to be revealed later.  As soon as we have the information I will update this story.

Miranda Lambert was approached by Oklahoma's Secretary of Agriculture, Jim Reese and asked if she could help.  He obviously knew she'd be willing to help.  MuttNation has teamed up with two other charities to send mobile pet rescue units to the area.  The units are sheltering animals as they're being treated and they're helping transport them to permanent locations.  Miranda talked about it on Facebook.  She said "I'm so proud that MuttNation Foundation can help even a little."

And another native Oklahoman – Carrie Underwood is donating $1 million in proceeds from her recent Blown Away Tour to the Red Cross, which assists in disasters such as the one that devastated Moore, Okla., and killed 24 people Monday. Carrie grew up in Checotah.
