Blue Bell has issued a recall on products produced in its Brenham, Texas facility after they were linked to confirmed cases of Listeria in Kansas.

The following items have been pulled from store shelves, and consumers are advised to throw these products away if they have them in their homes.

  • Chocolate Chip Country Cookie
  • Great Divide Bar
  • Sour Pop Green Apple Bar
  • Cotton Candy Bar
  • Scoops
  • Vanilla Stick Slices
  • Almond Bar
  • No Sugar Added Mooo Bar (regular Mooo Bars are not included)

The FDA issued the advisory Friday after it was discovered that these products were served to five Listeria patients in Kansas, three of whom died. Tests of samples by the Texas Department of Health Services and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control traced the contamination back to Blue Bell’s facility in Brenham. Production at that creamery has been halted pending an investigation.

The FDA advisory does not include Blue Bell cups, pints or half gallons.

According to the CDC, Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that causes the infection listeriosis, a type of violent food poisoning.
