Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are one of the most popular combos in the history of the CMA Awards, and a new honor proves it. The ever-popular duo have received the Chairman's Award from the Country Music Association.

Paisley and Underwood will pair for the ninth time to host the 2016 CMA Awards in November. They were recognized for their unique contribution to the show and to the CMA at a presentation in Nashville by former CMA Board Chairman Frank Bumstead on Monday (June 6). CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern also joined in the ceremony.

The longtime friends announced their ninth consecutive hosting gig via social media on May 24, and it sounds like they've already got some ideas brewing for a fun show.

“Last year they let me pull my pants down on national TV, I wonder what they will let me do this year,” Paisley wrote on Facebook, while Underwood tweeted her excitement.

The nominees and performers for the 2016 CMA Awards will be announced in the coming months. This year marks a special milestone, as the CMA Awards turn 50.

Underwood and Paisley are always full of surprises, and their opening monologue is a high spot of the show. You never know who they're going to subject to some good-natured ribbing. In 2015, Taste of Country looked back at some of the best zingers from the awards show. Over the years they've poked fun at Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Coldplay, Ariana Grande and many more, and they usually touch on a few current events, too.

The 2016 CMA Awards are set to air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC on Nov. 2 at 8PM ET.
