Brantley Gilbert looked legitimately stunned by his win at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday night (March 29). The "One Hell of an Amen" singer took home the Renegade trophy, topping a field of pop stars.

“I wasn’t expecting that one,” Gilbert said, looking visibly shocked when he took the trophy and microphone. He was dressed as his fans have come to expect in a T-shirt, black ball cap and jeans. However, he poked fun at his temporary makeup.

“I’m not wearing lip gloss, I kissed my fiancée before I came up here," he cracked, referring to Amber Cochran. The couple got engaged in October. He shared that she's celebrating a birthday on Monday.

The win was an honor for Gilbert, who was quick to thank the BG Nation, his hardcore army of fans. They are some of the most loyal in country music, so it's not surprising that they turned out for this fan-voted honor.

Iggy Azalea, Charli XCX, Hozier and Meghan Trainor were the four other nominees in the category. Gilbet's summer is built around stadium stops on Kenny Chesney's The Big Revival tour. It's not clear when he's planning on getting married. The couple announced their engagement 14 months after he broke off an engagement to country singer Jana Kramer.
