Country legend Brenda Lee was scheduled to perform at the Georgia Mountain Fair on Saturday (July 22), but after suffering a broken foot, the star has been forced to cancel her performances. Fortunately, Crystal Gayle has stepped up to the plate, so to speak, to fill the spots.

A 1997 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, Lee was slated to perform two shows at the Georgia Mountain Fair, in Hiawassee, Ga., on Saturday. A statement on the fair's website reads, "Brenda Lee regrets that she is unable to perform at the Georgia Mountain Fair on July 22 due to a broken foot. Brenda appreciates you, her fans ..."

Lee will be back in the Hiawassee area on Oct. 16 for the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, the Georgia Mountain Fair website reports. In the meantime, Gayle will perform at the Georgia Mountain Fair on Saturday, at both 2PM and 8PM; her Twitter account announced the news on Wednesday (July 19).

Lee, now 72, began performing on television shows as a young girl, and headlined concerts in Las Vegas as a young teenager. In addition to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Lee has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

Gayle, meanwhile, was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry earlier this year by her sister, Loretta Lynn.
