Watch Brett Eldredge Cover Van Morrison in Scotland

During a recent stop in Scotland, Brett Eldredge wove into his setlist a cover of a song by a native of nearby Northern Ireland, Van Morrison.

The country singer was performing at Glasgow's O2 ABC and, before bridging into his own "If You Were My Girl," Eldredge sang a short snippet of Morrison's song "Into the Mystic." The track originally appeared on the singer-songwriter's 1970 album Moondance.

"So, I sing that song leading into this song because I wanted to sing this song, and this kind of lyric, to a girl that I met that I was totally crazy crushin' on," Eldredge told the audience. "Like, I was so crazy about this girl, but the problem was, she was dating a huge a--hole of a guy; he was a terrible person.

"And I said, 'Why do you let this dude treat you like that? It doesn't make sense to me at all. If you were my girl, I would treat you way better,'" the artist continued. "So I wrote this for her."
