Cam is quickly becoming a household name in country music thanks to her debut single, the emotion-packed "Burning House." Based on a true story about the singer and an ex-boyfriend, the ballad has been certified platinum and helped earn the rising star an astonishing six 2016 ACM Awards nods, including both Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

"It means my gamble paid off," Cam tells The Boot and other reporters. "We shouldn’t have become lawyers and psychologists. You dream that it’s going to happen, but I think the pragmatist in us says, ‘Everybody dreams that it’s going to happen.’ It’s still kind of unbelievable."

The singer is planning to celebrate big while in Las Vegas, Nev., for the ACM Awards whether or not she ends up a winner.

"I’m going to have the best time at the ACMs. We're going to go all out," Cam maintains. "To be nominated six times, I don’t even know how many times that happens, but I feel like it might be the only time it happens for me."

The ACM Awards won't be Cam's first foray into being nominated at a major awards show, however: She was also a Grammy Awards nominee earlier this year, for Best Country Solo Performance, also for "Burning House."

"We would buy the Grammy nominee CD every year, and my mom got this year's, bought, like, 14 copies, because I was on it," Cam recalls. "It’s just so wild. It seems like there’s people on this side, and then there’s, like, a television screen, and then there’s people on the awards on the other side of the screen. It’s really weird that I’m on the other side of the screen sometimes."

Cam recently wrapped up her stint on tour with Brad Paisley, on Paisley's 2016 Crushin' It World Tour. This summer, she will join Dierks Bentley on the road, on Bentley's Somewhere on a Beach Tour. "Burning House" is available for download on iTunes.

The 2016 ACM Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., on April 3, at 8PM ET on CBS.
