Carrie Underwood was the first artist at the 2011 American Country Awards to walk away a winner. Underwood was victorious in the night’s first category for Single of the Year by a female artist for her sentimental and touching hit ‘Mama’s Song.’

“First off … I don’t even know what to do about that intro,” Underwood said, laughing, when she got to the microphone, referring to the skit between the show’s hosts, Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, who had a comical sing-off. “That was awesome … the badonkadonk and what not.”

After gaining her composure, Underwood continued on with her acceptance speech as she clutched her new telecaster guitar trophy. “I would like to thank God for giving country music the best fans in the world! Everybody in this room that’s nominated tonight or performing tonight or presenting tonight are here because you guys put them there, so thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

During last year’s ACAs, Underwood was the award show’s top winner with six wins, including the night’s biggest honor, Artist of the Year.
