Carrie Underwood took the stage Tuesday night at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, where she brought the house down at the Nordstrom Symphony Fashion Show. The event, which was expected to raise more than $100,000 for arts education for students across middle Tennessee, showcased a fashion show of Oscar de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection followed by a performance from the country starlet.

Before Underwood hit the stage, she hit the red carpet, looking stunning in an Oscar de la Renta gown, which marked the singer’s first time to wear the designer. Before Underwood’s set, Nordstrom hosted an all-out fashion show, transforming the symphony center to hold an impressive runway. For her part, Underwood performed ‘Undo It,’  followed by her new single ‘Good Girl‘ and ‘Before He Cheats.’

Speaking to Nashville’s News Channel 5 about what drew her to the event, Underwood said she wished she had been exposed to better arts education while growing up. ”It was such a small school, we weren’t really given culture,” she said. “And I think as a young person, a child, a teenager — that would’ve been so wonderful and so inspiring.”

While Underwood obviously enjoys performing at such formal events, the ‘Just a Dream’ singer said in an interview with Nashville’s NFocus magazine before the event that, on her days off, she’s not about glitzing up: “I don’t want to spend my days ‘off’ getting ready for life, so when getting ready, the quicker, the better!” she said. “I try to get a good night’s sleep, work out, shower, throw some quick make-up on, take a quick curling iron to my hair, and off we go!”
