Today's catch of the day comes from a Nashville band that have come out of nowhere to take country music like a herd of wild horses.

A thousand of them to be precise.

The back story on how A Thousand Horses came together isn’t all that different from the story of Alabama and many other country and southern rock bands. Bill Satcher (lead guitar) and Michael Hobby (lead vocals) went to high school together in Newberry, South Carolina, while Satcher’s cousin, Graham Deloach (bass/vocals), dropped in from Savannah, Georgia, every summer. The three musicians bonded, randomly playing dates around the area. The trio was eventually introduced to Zach Brown (guitar/vocals) from Lawrenceville, Georgia, and A Thousand Horses became a band.

A Thousand Horses seemingly came out of nowhere with their debut single "Smoke" and their major label album debut with Southernality. The single became the first debut single for a band to hit #1 on the country since the Zac Brown and "Chicken Fried" in 2008, also setting the record for the highest chart entrance for a debut single, when it appeared at #28. The album debuted at #2 on the albums chart, debuting June 9th right behind Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard's Django and Jimmie, which dropped the same week.

The group is back in the spotlight today with the second single from "Southernality". A Thousand Horses and "(This Ain't No) Drunk Dial" is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
