If you look in the dictionary under the word "resilient", you will quite probably find a picture of the artist we feature today on Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday. An artist who has lived the songs she sings, and who walks a little straighter, and stands a little taller because of the experiences she lived.

Amber Leigh White could have moved on past her dream years ago, like many who when faced by the challenges she has met would have. But instead of packing it all in and moving on, she has turned the negatives into fuel for her fire.

Amber signed her first record deal with DreamWorks Records back in the early 2000's, as the result of a song she had written about going through a teen-age pregnancy. The song, "Easy Loving You" led DreamWorks to bring Amber into the studio, but the label folded

as she began work on her first project. White would turn her attention songwriting after the closure, also concentrating on raising her family.

Content at writing for other artists, Amber spent the following years raising her family. But the kids grew up, and her marriage ended, leaving White with an empty nest, she once again found her voice, using music as her therapy. She re-entered the studio with a handful of self-written songs and a new desire to succeed in the music industry.

White's upcoming album, self-produced as well as co-written (along with her ex-husband, songwriter Phillip), showcases an incredible vocal talent and a new confidence, which could only have been found by walking through the fire. The album infuses her small-town (Edna) Texas roots with a Nashville flare, producing a sound that has to be heard.

Amber plans on donating 10% of all revenues from the album, Straight Lines, to women's based charities, and is aiming the project at inspiring those who have lived or are living their own trials and tribulations. We have the first single from the album in our spotlight today. Amber Leigh White and "Float" is today's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
