Another Thursday is upon us, and true to form we present another of the great young Nashville artist, who is either unsigned or signed to one of country music's smaller, independent record labels. Today we feature a young singer and songwriter from Dallas, who discovered her musical talent during her darkest days.

Ashliegh Lisset was just 11 years old when her father, a career soldier, asked her to record a version of Carrie Underwood's "Don't Forget To Remember Me" to take with him on his next deployment. His daughter had always shown a special talent for music, and he wanted to have her voice with him as he went on his second tour of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom. But just a few months later, Ashliegh's father was killed in the line of duty in Iraq, and she never got the chance to fulfill his request.

The memory of her father and his request stayed with Ashliegh. She would come to recognize the power of music to heal broken hearts, while also providing her an escape from her untimely loss and the darkness it brought. She realized that good or bad, she could get her emotions out by writing them in song. Ashliegh used her music throughout high school to express herself in ways she never dreamed of.

Ashliegh decided after graduation that her path led to Nashville, so she packed her bags and headed to Music City. She played the local clubs, bars and honky tonks, while honing her songwriting skills, just looking for the chance to impress somebody in the record industry. That chance came in 2013.

A call came into Ashliegh from Jerrod Niemann's management team, offering the young Texan the opening slot on the Sony recording Artist's tour. This was the experience, and the chance at exposure she had been waiting for.  During the year she spent her off days working on a project would become her debut EP, Kill The Headlights. The album's title track, co-written by Lisset's idol Carrie Underwood, was released as her debut single in January of 2014. The song was picked-up by stations across the country and spent 8 weeks on Sirius/XM radio's Top 30 Count Down.
