Today we turn our attention to an artist who recently has been better known for his acting and for his offspring, than he has been as a recording artist. But his music career includes one of the most popular songs of the 90's, a song that many have given credit for country music's resurgence in that decade, and a song that many publications have included on their lists of the worst songs of all times.

In 1992, Billy Ray Cyrus released his debut album Some Gave All, featuring his debut single "Achy Breaky Heart". The single would set records worldwide, becoming the first single ever to achieve triple-platinum certification, and was eventually translated into more than 100 languages. Many people credit the song for launching line-dancing into the mainstream, making it and country music a world wide phenomenon. One thing it did do for sure is spend 5 weeks at #1 on the U.S. country charts and would also climb to #4 on the pop chart.

The album, which would also feature the singles "Could've Been Me" (#2), "Where'm I Gonna Live" (#23) and "She's Not Cryin' Anymore" (#6) has been certified 9 times platinum and has proven to be Cyrus' most successful album by far to this date. He has since released 13 more albums, but his singles have only cracked the top-10 three times; "In The Heart of a Woman" (#3) and "Somebody New" (#9) from his 1993 album It Won't Be The Last, and the single "Busy Man" which peaked at #3 in 1998. It was featured on the album Shot Full of Love.

In 1999, Cyrus made his acting debut, starring in the independent film Radical Jack. He followed that in 2001 with a small roll in the movie Mulholland Drive. The same year, he would play the lead role on the TV series Doc, which would run for 3 years on the independent channel PAX. In 2005, Cyrus would expand his horizons by starring in the Toronto production of Annie Get Your Guns. The same year he would begin a run, starring alongside his daughter Miley on the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. The show would run for four season. Since he has made several guest starring appearances, perform on Dancing With The Stars, and a few small movie rolls, including appearing in Jackie Chan's 2010 movie The Spy Next Door.

Cyrus currently has a new TV series airing on CMT called Still The King, in which he plays a former country star and Elvis Presley impersonator, getting to know the teenage daughter he never knew he had. He has also been back in the studio recording a new album titled Thin Line, which is scheduled for release in September. The first single from the album, which is also the theme song for Cyrus' new TV series is in our spotlight today. Billy Ray Cyrus and "Hey Elvis" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
