‘Catch of the Day’ – Blackberry Smoke – “Let It Burn” [AUDIO]

Today we feature a 5-member band out of Georgia, that does thing their own way, including the release of all their last 4 albums on their own label. A group that successfully blends blues, southern rock and country.

One look at Blackberry Smoke, you immediately flash back to southern rock giants Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers Band and Molly Hatchett. But they are much more than just the look, blending those bands with the classic country sounds of the Mavericks and Confederate Railroad, creating a sound that is unique on today's country music horizon. Based in Atlanta, GA, the group has released five studio

albums, hitting the country music charts in 2013 with the top-40 charting "Pretty Little Lie". The quintet, made up of Charlie Starr on guitar and lead vocals, Richard Turner playing bass, Brit Turner on drums, guitarist Paul Jackson and Brandon Still on keyboards, has toured with the Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd to name just a few.

Along the way, the band found a kindred spirit in producer Brendan O'Brien, who has collaborated with rockers AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. O'Brien has produced their last two studio albums, an EP and their 2014 live

album Leave A Scar, Live: North Carolina, as well as the accompanying DVD. All four of these efforts were released by the band's self-run label, 3 Legged Records.

The group's fifth album, Like An Arrow, released Oct. 14th, has gotten the band it's most attention so far, debuting at #12 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, while also receiving favorable reviews across the board.
