Bobby Wills was born in the unlikely country music locale, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Raised by a family that didn't have much in the way of a musical inkling, he naturally took to sports, including ice hockey and skateboarding. But as he got older, he was being inexplicably drawn to music, and was looking for answers. One of the answers he discovered, was that he had been adopted when he was 18 months old. When old enough, he registered with adoption registry in hopes of finding his birth parents.

While on a backpacking tour of Australia, Wills attraction to music grew stronger. When a friend bet him $20 he wouldn't get up on stage during a local Open Mic night. Wills accepted the bet, getting up on stage and performing Garth Brooks' "The Dance" to a rousing response. The fire was now lit, and Wills dove in, teaching himself to play guitar while still touring Australia. Upon returning home, he discovered that his birth mother had signed-up with the registry, and that she was looking for him.

At age 20 some of Bobby's questions had been answered, but their were more that he hoped to address. Wills met his biological parents, along with 5 brothers and sisters, and what he found was a big musical streak that ran throughout the family. At this point he really began taking his music seriously, performing across Canada, first hitting every open mic night that would let him on stage, then progressing being an opener for many acts. He recorded demos in Toronto and began to split his time between there, Calgary and Nashville.
