Today we feature an artist who was born and raised in Paris...Illinois and who came to Nashville after co-writing a song for Gary Allan's 2010 album Get Off On The Pain.

When his parents bought him his first guitar, along with a small sound system at age 15, Brett Eldredge wasn't immediately drawn to the instrument. A "big voiced" baritone, Eldredge tended to identify with artists with "big" voices like Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Ronnie Dunn. Eldredge later admitted that his real problem with the instrument was that he couldn't sit still long enough to learn how to play it. But he put the sound system to good use, quickly becoming an "in demand" performer around his home town, Eldredge getting his first taste of performing in front of crowds.

While in college, one thing became clear to Eldredge; his future was somewhere with the old guitar he had sitting in the corner collecting dust. After seeing other artists performing at local spots with just a guitar to back them, Eldredge locked himself in his room to practice. Eldredge found that the songs just started coming to him once he finally got hold of playing.

By 2010, Eldredge was ready for to make the move to Nashville. Gary Allan picked up the song "I Think I've Had Enough", a song Eldredge co-wrote with Pat McLaughlin, for the 2010 album Get Off On The Pain. Later in that year Eldredge signed with Atlantic Records Nashville on the strength of his writing, and released his debut single "Raymond". The single hit the top-20, but without an album to back it, along with a second single "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" the single failed to get a foothold with country music fans and radio. But with the release of his third single, "Don't Ya" in 2013, coinciding with the release of his debut album Bring You Back, Eldredge had his first number one hit, and the foothold he had been looking for. The album would feature his first single, but "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" was nowhere to be found. Bring You Back would also feature two more singles, "Beat of the Music" and "Mean To Me", both #1 hits.

September of 2015 saw the release of Eldredge's second album, Illinois. The album would spawn two more number 1's, "Lose My Mind" and the most recent, "Drunk On Your Love". With five consecutive #1 hits, today the third single from the album is our spotlight. Brett Eldredge and "Wanna Be That Song" is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
