Today's focus is on one-third of the most successful trio in country music today. A singer and songwriter who has decided to release a side project.

In 2006, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood came together in Nashville to write songs. Kelley had moved to Nashville for his home in North Carolina where he had been working in construction. Trying to build a career as a solo artist, Kelley called upon a friend from middle school, Heywood, to move to Nashville so they could write songs together. Shortly after Heywood's arrival, they met Scott, who recognized Kelley from MySpace. Scott was invited to join the duo to write songs, but it became apparent quickly that the trio was more than writers.

The trio began performing around Nashville's local music scene, adopting the ,moniker Lady Antebellum soon after. The group had been photographing local homes in the Nashville area. Several of the homes were of the "antebellum" architecture style, large plantation homes built prior to the civil war. The band decided it would be a great name for the group.

Signed by Capitol Records in 2007, the group was soon after selected by Jim Brickman for his single "Never Alone", which reached #14 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart. Their lead solo single was released later in 2007, leading the way for their self-titled debut album. The single reached #3 on the Billboard country chart.

The group has released 5 albums for Capitol records, the first four having been certified platinum; their most recent album 747, released a year ago has been certified gold and is well on the way to matching its predecessors' platinum certifications. These albums have produced 18 singles, 14 of which have reached the top-10, 5 of those rose to #1.

Earlier this year, Lady A announced that it was taking a break at the end of their current Wheels Up tour. With some time on his hands, Charles Kelley decided to produce a solo album. When Kelley announced the album and an accompanying solo tour, he made sure to stress the point that Lady Antebellum was not breaking up, that he was just using the time away from the trio to do something he had wanted to do since arriving in Nashville in 2006.

The first single from that solo album, title and release date yet to be announced, is in our spotlight today. Charles Kelley, featuring his buddies Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay with "Driver" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
