Today we feature one of probably the only two brothers in the history to be featured independently on the Catch of the Day. He is also one-third of the most successful country trio of this millennium, a group that came together in Nashville to right songs, and found they blended well as performers.

Charles Kelley grew up in Augusta, GA, playing music with older brothers Josh (who has been featured here) and John. His musical career began when he was 11 years old and the Kelley brothers formed Inside Blue, releasing a 5-song EP, that would wind up getting the attention of several major record labels. While Charles was in high school, the group would add another member, a classmate of Charles' named Dave Haywood. The pair would begin a songwriting partnership at age 14 that remains strong to this day.

After graduating from Lakeside High School, Kelley was off to the University of Georgia, graduating in 2004 with a degree in finance. He would put that degree to use immediately after graduating from UGA, working for oldest brother John's construction company in Winston-Salem, NC as an accountant. But the call of music (and family) was strong, and after middle brother Josh bought a home in Nashville, he was able to convince Charles to make the move to Nashville so the pair could write together.

After moving to Nashville, Kelley re-connected with his old high school friend Haywood and revived their song writing partnership. While writing and playing around the Nashville area, Kelley & Haywood met local singer and songwriter Hillary Scott, the daughter of legendary Nashville session vocalist Linda Davis. The trio came together as songwriters and soon discovered they blended well as performers too. After a couple of months of Nashville shows, Lady Antebellum as the trio called themselves, were signed by Capitol Records in Nashville in 2007, releasing their self-titled debut album in April of 2008.

After 5 gold or platinum albums, 13 top-10 and 9 number 1 hits later, Lady Antebellum has taken a short break so the members can work on some solo, side projects. Hillary Scott has released a faith-based project with her family called Hillary Scott & The Scott Family. The project features bother of her parents, Linda Davis & Lang Scott ans her sister Rylee and was produced by Ricky Skaggs. Dave Haywood is using the hiatus to spend lots of time with his son Cash, born in September of 2014 and his wife Kelli. The group recently announced they will be rejoining forces to perform at this year's Kentucky Derby on May 7th.

In September, Kelley released his debut solo single, "The Driver", which features Eric Paslay and Dierks Bentley, and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Duo/Group performance; the song would serve as the title track for his debut album,  released in February. Today, our spotlight falls on the second single from that album, as Charles Kelley and "Lonely Girl" is today's Catch of the Day; new music you haven't heard, but you're going to want to hear it again.
