Today's spotlight artist is a singer and songwriter from Perryville, Missouri, who has written hits for Tim McGraw, Justin Moore and...Chris Janson.

Chris Janson first came to light in Nashville in 2009 when he recorded a pair of duets with Holly Williams on her Here With Me album. The songs, "I Hold On" and "A Love I Think Will Last" led to Janson signing with BNA Records the same year. He released one single for the label, 2010's "'Til A Woman Comes Along" from his debut album Take It To The Bank, but when BNA restructured Janson was shifted to Columbia Nashville Records. Lost in the shuffle at Columbia, Janson left the label in 2011.

After leaving Columbia, Janson would co-write or write several top-10 singles for other artists. Tim McGraw's "Truck Yeah" and Justin Moore's "Off The Beaten Path" among them. He would also work as a session musician, appearing on Lee Brice's "Hard To Love" and supplying guitar, harmonica and backing vocals for several artists.

In 2013, Janson signed with Bigger Picture Records, releasing the single "Better I Don't" which he co-wrote with his wife Kelly. The song would crack the top-40, but his time at Bigger Picture was short, as the label closed its doors in 2014.

In 2015, Janson decided to gamble on his own career, producing and self-releasing the single "Buy Me A Boat". After some early attention by radio stations across the country, the single was picked up by Warner Bros. Recods and Janson was off and running with his first top-10 hit. The song would hit #1 in September, the same week Janson announced he would be releasing an album of the same name with Warner Bros. on October 30th.

The second single from that album is our featured song today. Chris Janson and "Power of Positive Drinkin'" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
