Today we turn our focus to the second single from an artist, whose debut single went to #1 just yesterday. An artist who, along with twin brother Cory, auditioned for season 7 of American Idol, but failed to make it to the Hollywood portion of the show.

Chris Lane grew up in Kernersville, NC, and as most guys, concentrated on football and baseball growing up. A great baseball player in high school, his chances to play at a higher level were curtailed by injury, so he learned to play guitar as an outlet, with musical tastes running the gamut from Garth Brooks to Justin Timberlake to Usher.

After auditioning for season 7 of American Idol, Lane formed the Chris Lane Band in 2008. The band released one album, 2012's Let's Ride, which was released on Big Loud Mountain Records. The album peaked at #75 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, providing one single, "Broken Windshield View", which peaked at #54.

Lane soon decided to try things solo, garnering opening spot on tours for acts like Florida-Georgia Line, The Band Perry, Chris Young, Brantley Gilbert and Lee Brice. FGL has taken the young singer under their wings while he has been out on several tours with the group, including their current Dig Your Roots tour. These tours have exposed Lane to performing in front of sold-out stadium, while introducing his style and his music to audiences, long before they ever heard his name on the radio.

In November of 2015, Lane released his debut solo EP, Fix. The six-song disc featured the title track, whose slow move up the chart began on October 30th of 2015, finally culminated this week, when it landed the top spot on the Billboard Country Singles Airplay chart. The single was also the lead-in for Lane's full-length solo debut album, Girl Problems, which was released August 6th. The second single from the album is in our spotlight today. Chris Lane and "For Her" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
