Today we turn our focus to an artist who was well established as a song-writer, with over 150 his songs recorded by other artists, before becoming the unquestioned break-out star of 2015. An artist who has proven he can play rock, bluegrass or country, easily changing between the genres without skipping a beat.

At the start of 2015, most country music fans had no idea who Chris Stapleton was, though they did know the songs he wrote. After years of writing #1 hits for other artists like Kenny Chesney ("Never Wanted Nothing More"), George Strait ("Love's Gonna Make It Alright"), Darius Rucker ("Come Back Song"), Stapleton took songs he had been stockpiling for nearly 10 years, went into the studio, and the result was his debut solo album Traveler. The album, which has already been certified double platinum by the RIAA, garnered Stapleton album of the year and best album by the ACM, CMA and Grammys in 2015 and 2016. It also earned him a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance in 2016.

While his solo debut soared into the stratosphere, it was not the first award winning performance Stapleton had put in. From 2008 to 2010 he was the front man of The Steel Drivers, a blue grass band that produced 2 albums that both peaked at #2 on the Bluegrass Albums chart. As a songwriter, Stapleton won ASCAP awards each year from 2006 to 2012. ASCAP awards are presented annually to writers for the most performed song of the year.

While coming from out of what seems like nowhere to surprise everyone with the success of Traveler, Stapleton entered the studio to work on his second solo album knowing there will be no surprise success this time. He has gone from "who is the Chris Stapleton guy?" to a highly anticipated second album in just 2 years. But with the release of that second album, From A Room: Vol. 1, Stapleton shows its no fluke, delivering on the promise that was laid out by his debut project.
