Today's Catch of the Day comes from an artist that up until now has been known primarily as a songwriter, but that might just be about to change.

Chris Singleton has been a successful songwriter in Nashville for many years, and has penned hits for some of country's biggest stars, including George Strait ("Love's Gonna Make It Alright"), Kenny Chesney ("Never Wanted Nothing More", "You And The Whiskey") and Luke Bryan ("Drink A Beer"), but it wasn't until the 2014 CMT Artist Of The Year Awards that fans could put a face to the songs. Stapleton joined with Lady Antebellum to sit in for Luke Bryan (who missed the show due to family tradgedy) to perform "Drink A Beer."

Known primarily as a blue grass performer, Singleton was nominated for three Grammys as a member of The Steel Drivers from 2008-2010. He also won an International Bluegrass Music Association for "Emerging Artist of the Year" in 2008. Singleton left The Steel Drivers in 2010 to form the band The Jompson Brothers. In 2013 he signed with Mercury Nashville as a solo artist, releasing the single "What Are You Listening To" later that year.
