Though it's a short week, we wouldn't think of skipping past our favorite day, Thursday, and missing out on the opportunity to present another of Nashville's undiscovered artists, those unsigned or indy label artist that are working hard to make their names well known in Music City. Today, an artist from Florida, who definitely knows about tradition, growing up on land that has been in his family for generations.

Clark Hill grew up in northern Florida, on land his grandparents had called home. He worked on the family farm, planting and harvesting corn, black-eyed peas, okra and tomatoes. A good student and natural athlete, he passed his EMT exam before graduating high school, and after graduating began his career as a firefighter/EMT. Hill also showed a natural musical ability, performing in talent shows as early as second grade, singing in church choirs and the praise band. In high school, he performed at Disneyland during the holiday seasons just before Christmas.

But as much as he had loved performing, he never thought music would be an important part of his life. Then he began sitting in with his brother-in-law's cover band. At first it was just as a guitarist and backing vocalist, but as he got his feet wet, he began singing lead more often. He also began writing, eventually working some of his originals into to the band's cover set. Hill began to build momentum, finally packing up and moving to Nashville, arriving as CMA Fest 2012 was in full swing. One of the first people Hill met was Craig Morgan, who introduced the singer to his drummer Mike Rogers.

Rogers would agree to work with Hill in the studio on a full-length album, and with Rogers serving as producers, they would enter the studio in 2014 and click the moment tape began rolling. They would emerge from the studio with Hill's debut album People Like Me, a package that showcases the varied sides of the singer, touching on all of the elements that make up the complex artist.
