Once again its Thursday, and is our custom on the fourth day of the week, today we turn our attention to one of the great unsigned or indy label recording artists that Nashville has to offer. Today, and artist that has been called by many "the next big undiscovered thing" in Music City, but we are proud to call him our Catch of the Day.

Cort Carpenter has been playing in front of sell-out crowds across the country, having opened for Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood and many more. He has played most of the big country festivals, including Country Thunder, Rock The South and The Oregon Jamboree. But country music wasn't always Cort's #1 love.

Born and raised in Kelso, WA, the major leagues were well within Carpenter's sights as a standout baseball player in high school and college. But injuries suffered in a car accident ended those big league dreams and Cort was forced to re-invent himself. Carpenter turned his energies to a new direction and what became a new love, country music. Cort swiftly rose through the ranks of the burgeoning country music scene in the Pacific Northwest, and his part-time pursuit quickly became his passion and full-time career.

In 2012 Carpenter headed to Nashville, and frequent trips soon became a permanent relocation, where his driving energy became was infused by just enough of that Music City sound to garner attention around Nashville. Two EPs quickly followed and his fan base began to grow at the same rate of speed. Like his idols, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton, Carpenter blends the perfect combination of country playfulness with a modern country energy giving him his own, unique sound.

In 2016 Carpenter released his third EP, Changing Lanes, which has already featured two singles, the playful-pop-country dance tune "Let Me See Your Koozie" and the classic country influenced "What Were We Drinking?" The third single from the six-song project is in our spotlight today. Brought to you by All-American Super Car Wash of Lawton, Cort Carpenter and "Wrong Kinda Right" is our Unsigned Indy Artist Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you're gonna want to hear it again.
