Today's catch of the day features an artist who was born in Glasgow...Missouri, not Scotland, and grew up in the country hot bed of Phoenix, Arizona (OK, everything is hot in Phoenix, not just the beds) and whose middle name, by which he is known, is the last name of his maternal great-grandmother.

After spending a year at the University of Vermont before transferring to and graduating from Vanderbilt University, Dierks Bentley got his start in Nashville the old fashioned way: working as a video researcher at the Nashville Network!! Bentley shot into the spotlight with the release of his 2003 self-titled debut album. The album's lead single, "What Was I Thinkin'" climbed to #1, while the album produced two other top-10 singles, the follow-ups "My Last Name" (#7) and "How Am I Doin'" (#4).

His second album, 2005's Modern Day Drifter produced three top-10's, including the #1 hits "Settle For A Slow Down" and "Come A Little Closer". The two album helped Bentley to capture the 2005 CMAHorizon Award, making Bentley the third youngest artist to win the award (2006 winner Carrie Underwood and 2004 winner Josh Turner were younger).

Bentley has released a total of 7 studio albums, 1 Live Album, 1 greatest hits package, an EP of blue grass songs and 18 singles, of which 13 have reached #1. His latest album, Riser, has already given birth to 4 singles, with 3 ("I Hold On", "Drunk On A Plane" and "Say You Do") reaching number one.

The fifth single and title track are in our spotlight today. Dierks Bentley and "Riser" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
