Dierks Bentley may just be the most versatile performer in country music today, and very few country music fans realize it. Evidenced by a four night stand he had in New York City in 2010 where the first night he headlined and played his hits at the Bowery Ballroom, followed by a second night where he set in with the Del McCoury Band and showed the student and aficionado of blue grass that he is. Night number three found Bentley sitting in acoustically with other songwriters at a showcase and finally on night number four he played with his experimental side band, The Punch Brothers. Dierks has played festivals from Lollapalooza to Telluride to the CMA Music Festival, bringing something different to each gathering.

Even within the bounds of "traditional" country music, Bentley has found a way, with each album, to bring something new to the table. Whether it be instrumentally, vocally or bringing in musicians from different genres, Bentley has expanded his sound and style with each album, leading to the rare combination in the music industry of commercial success and artistic breadth. Award, now known as the Best New Artist award, Bentley has released 8 studio albums since 2003, each one receiving a minimum of gold certification from the RIAA. He has charted 21 top-10 hits, 15 of those have reached #1. He added to his total when he appeared with 29 other CMA award winners on the recent #1 hit "Forever Country".

Throughout the journey, Bentley has done things his own way, satisfying his influences and muses, doing all he can do to bring his fans along with him, while making new fans along the way. His most recent album Black, is a tribute to his wife Cassidy, who's maiden name appears as the albums title. The first two singles from the album, "Somewhere on a Beach" and "Different For Girls" both hit number and Bentley hopes for another with his latest single, which is in today's spotlight. Dierks Bentley and "Black", the title-track from that album is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
