Today we feature a Tennessee native who left his pre-med major in college behind to move to Nashville, choosing to pursue his degree in country music, leaving behind a career in the medical field to become one of the top young stars in Nashville.

Dustin Lynch had his path set in biology when he entered David Lipscomb College in Nashville as a pre-med major, a career path he veered from in 2003 when he moved cross-town to Music Row to pursue his dreams. He kicked around Nashville for the next 8 years, playing local clubs and writing album cuts. His style was an interesting mix of traditional country and an edgy intensity that showed him to be one of the leaders of a new country movement, which led to his signing with Broken Bow Records in 2011.

Lynch had written songs that had made other artists albums, but he saved the best for himself. In 2012 he recorded his first single, a song he co-wrote with Josh Leo and Tim Nichols called "Cowboys and Angels". The song was met with incredible critical response, and climbed to number 2 on the Billboard Country singles chart, ending 2012 in the top-5 for the year. His self-titled debut album also released in 2012 and featured two more top-30 singles "She Cranks My Tractor", his second top-20 hit and "Wild In Your Smile", which peaked at #23. The album climbed to the top of the country album charts, the only debut album to accomplish this in 2012.

In 2014, Lynch released "Where It's At", the lead single and title track from his second album. The single would become Lynch's first #1, and the first of three straight chart toppers from the sophomore album. The project would also feature the chart toppers "Hell of a Night" and "Mind Reader". It would also become Lynch's first album to receive gold certification, with the title single reaching platinum status and "Hell of a Night" certified gold. He toured with Keith Urban and Luke Bryan from 2014 through 2015, and obviously learned well from both artists when it came to capturing a crowd.
