Today we turn our focus to a singer and songwriter who has five #1 hits as a songwriter, one as a songwriter and this year became a Grammy nominee and an ACM nominee. All this from a guy from Temple, TX, who believes in honesty in his music, a smile on his face and giving an audience a show that will always send them home happy.

Eric Paslay made sure he has something to fall back on before he headed to Nashville. In 2005 he graduated from the Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors of Science degree. From that time until the time he signed with EMI Records Nashville in 2011, Paslay made quite a reputation for himself as a songwriter, penning #1 hits for Jake Owen ("Barefoot Blue Jean Night"), the Eli Young Band ("Even If It Breaks Your Heart"), Love and Theft ("Angel Eyes") and Rascal Flatts ("Rewind"). He would also write the song "Deep As It Is Wide", which he would record with Amy Grant and Sheryl Crow, as well as several album tracks for Lady Antebellum.

Paslay would re-record one of those album cuts he wrote for Lady A to be the lead single from his 2014 self-titled, debut album. The single, "Friday Night" would go on to hit #1, and the album would feature two more top-20 singles, "Song About A Girl" and "She Don't Love You".

Late in 2015, Paslay released the lead single from his second, yet to be released album Dressed In Black. The single peaked at #30 on the Billboard Country Singles charts. He was a guest performer with Dierks Bentley on Lady A's Charles Kelley's debut solo single, "The Driver", which garnered the trio a Grammy nomination for best Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the recent, 58th Grammy Awards.

The second single from Dressed In Black, set for release in August, is in our spotlight today. Eric Paslay and "Angels In This Town" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
