Today we feature an award winning duo who met at what I like to call "Country Music U", Belmont University in Nashville, TN. A pair who both site christian rock as a heavy influence on their music.

Ormond Beach, FL native Brian Kelley originally attended Florida State on a baseball scholarship. But when it became clear that his pitching career would be coming to an end, he transferred to Belmont University, a school who can list alumni such as Brad Paisley, Pam Tillis, Lee Ann Womack, Trisha Yearwood and Canaan Smith. At was at BU Kelley would meet Tyler Hubbard, a native of Monroe, GA, and Florida-Georgia Line was born.

After meeting at a college worship group, the pair began playing and writing together. They became roommates after graduation, working odd jobs while playing around the Nashville area. After being discovered playing at a county fair, FGL began working on a debut album with Nickleback producer Joey Moi. Instead of writing new songs for the album, they decided to polish songs that appeared on their self produced EPs Anything Like Me, released in 2010, using rock band structure on the music, instead of the standard country structure.

The album, Here's To The Good Times featured the single "Cruise" which was originally distributed independently, but garnered attention from major labels when it started to air on satellite radio. Republic Nashville/Big Machine Records eventually won out, signing Kelley & Hubbard to a contract in July of 2012.

The album would be released in December of the same year, while "Cruise" was in the middle of a record setting 24 non-consecutive week run at #1 on the Billboard country chart, surpassing the previous mark of 21 weeks, held by three artists. It also became the fasting climbing debut single in that chart's history, its 19 weeks surpassing Heartland's 2006 #1 hit "I Loved Her First". In spending 56 consecutive weeks on the chart, the song surpassed Lee Brice's "Love Like Crazy"'s 52 week chart run. It would set a reverse mark on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, it 38 week rise to the top of that chart surpassing the climb of Lonestar's "Amazed", which took 30 weeks to ascend to the top in 1999 & 2000.

The single has sold more than 7 million digital copies, while the album has surpassed 2 million copies sold in the US alone. The album would feature 5 #1 singles: "Cruise", "Get Your Shine On", "Round Here", "Stay" and "This Is How We Roll", and would be the third best selling album of 2013. The duo's second album, Anything Goes was released in October of 2014 and featured the #1 singles "Dirt", "Sun Daze" and "Sippin' On Fire", as well as the top-10 hit title track.

The fifth single from Anything Goes is in our spotlight today. Florida-Georgia Line and "Confession" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
