Today we spotlight another Canadian country singer. Today's artist was actually born in Australia, but his mother immigrated to Lancombe, Alberta Canada when he five years old.

Gord Bamford comes from a strong musical blood line. His mother Marilyn was a singer in an Australian country band, and she encouraged him to pursue his musical dreams. In 1995 Gord entered and won the Nornet Radio Networks Search for The Stars; he then went Calgary, Alberta to record his debut single. "Forever Starts Today". The song received a good response from Canadian country radio, but it did not lead to directly to a follow-up project.

In 2001, Bamford finally released his debut album, God's Green Earth, on his own lable, GWB Records. Five singles were released from the album, including the title track, but the singles and the album didn't receive the acceptance Bamford had hoped for. His second album, Life Is Good, was recorded in Nashville and released in 2004. Six singles were released in Canada, with 5 of them cracking the Canadian country top-20.

Today's spotlight falls on a single from the most recent album. The single was actually released in Canada in 2013, becoming his only #1 hit. The song has just been released in the U.S., today's Catch of the Day is Gord Bamford and "When Your Lips Are So Close". It's new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
