Today we turn our attention to a band from Canada that's landed four top-10 hits on the Canadian Country charts, and is now trying to find their way in Nashville. A group that won the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Boots and Heart Music Festival in 2015 and signed with Universal Music soon after,

releasing their debut project in April.

The James Barker Band was formed in Ontario, Canada in 2013, quickly emerging as a band to keep an eye on. By 2015 they were opening for Thomas Rhett at the Boots and Heart Music Festival in Ontario, making quite an impression during the festival, and were awarded the top spot at the festival's Emerging Artist Showcase. As their prize, they were awarded one release on the Universal Music Canada label. The band made the most of the opportunity, their debut single "Lawn Chair Lazy" peaking at #3 on the Canadian Country Singles chart, and earning gold certifification in their home country.

UMC quickly realized they had a hot property on their hands. They signed the group to a full recording contract and sent them into the studio to work on their debut project. Their dubut EP, Game On, was released in April, and along the way has produced 4 singles including their successful debut. Three singles followed, all hit the top-10 in Canada and the EP was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA).
