Today's focus lands on an artist who started out as an actress, appearing on the TV series One Tree Hill, Grey's Anatomy and Friday Night Lights and in the movies Dead/Undead and Prom Night. In 2012, she turned her attention to country music full time, and hasn't looked back.

Jana Kramer's big break came in the 2002 low budget horror film Dead/Undead. In 2003 she had a guest appearance on All My Children, which marked her television debut. Guest rolls on TV series such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and CSI: NY followed, along with small supporting roles in films such as Click, Prom Night and Spring Breakdown.

In 2007 Kramer landed a recurring roll on the television adaptation of Friday Night Lights, playing the roll of Noelle Davenport in the series second season. The next year she landed a part of the CW drama Beverly Hills 90210, a reboot of the 90's teen drama. On the show, she played the part of Portia Ranson, in which she appeared six times in the program's first season. The same year, she had a four-episode role on the HBO series Entourage, also landing the roll of her career, Alex Dupree on the drama series One Tree Hill.

The part was intended as a short term part, but producers liked Kramer's performance on the show, that they upgraded her status to a series regular soon after she started. She continued with the series until 2012, when she made a decision that would change her career, and her life, forever.

Kramer signed a record contract with Elektra Records in 2011, but didn't decide to dedicate her efforts to a music career until the following year. In January 2012, her debut single "Why Ya Wanna" was released, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Country Singles chart and #34 on the Hot100 chart. At that point, Kramer dedicated her efforts to her self-titled debut album. Along with "Why Ya Wanna", the album featured the singles "Whiskey", which peaked at #27 and "I Hope It Rains", which topped out at #42 in 2013.

In 2014, Kramer released "Love", which peaked at #32 on the charts, amazing many music industry insiders that predicted the song would be a huge hit. The single would serve as the lead for her second album Thirty-One, which wouldn't be released until October of 2015. Before the album's release, a second single from the project would make it to radio, slowly climbing the Billboard chart. "I Got The Boy". The song would peak at #5, and receive gold certification from the RIAA. But the single and album wouldn't be Kramer's only life changing event during this time, as she and husband Mike Caussin welcomed Jolie Rae Caussin to their family on January 31st in Nashville.
