Today our focus is on an artist who first came to our attention as an actress, and who has made a smooth transition into country music. She made her debut at age 19 in the low-budget thriller Dead/Undead and who made appearences on All My Children, Entourage, 90210, Friday Night Lights, CSI, Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill.

Early on, Jana Kramer's acting was her main focus. She joined the cast of the highly successful CW drama One Tree Hill for the show's eighth season in 2009. Originally her role of Alex Dupre was intended to be a "re-curring role", but the character, and Kramer's portrayal, became an integral part of the season, and Kramer was raised to a full-time cast member by mid-season. After the eighth season, she announced she would be leaving the show to pursue her music career; the second episode of season nine would be her final appearance.

Kramer had signed with Elektra Records in 2011, prior to her commitment to One Tree Hill. She debuted two promo-singles, "I Won't Give Up" and "Whiskey" on the show; neither song garnered much attention from radio, climbing to #78 and #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart respectively, based solely on digital sales. Elektra released Kramer's self-titled debut album as she prepared to leave the show. Her first official single, "Why You Wanna" peaked at number 3 on the chart. Two singles would follow, "Whiskey" would peak at #25 and "I Hope It Rains" at #42.

Her acting was put on hold so, though she found time to appear in a series of commercials for Nationwide Insurance, where she appeared as a stealthy, leather clad woman following a team of burglars, replacing items they stole. She also would appear in follow-up commercials as a character replacing items in a home after a fire, and as a "sexy" Santa replacing Christmas items during the holidays. Kramer would tour to promote the album in 2013 as the opening act on Blake Shelton's Ten Times Crazier tour, while also taking time to star in the independent film Approaching Midnight. After her tour commitment was fulfilled, Kramer went into the studio to begin work on her second album 31.

The lead single from the project, "Love" was a song that seemed to unexplicably wilt early on the vine, peaking at #32 in 2014. The follow up single, "I Got The Boy" was released in October of 2015 and coincided with the release of the album. The second single peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot Country Chart. The third single from the album is in our spotlight today. Jana Kramer and "Said No One Ever" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
