Today we feature an up-and-coming singer and songwriter from Independence, MO, who says he is putting "western back in country and western". He is an artist who spent a few years riding bulls before deciding Nashville was easier on the body, though not necessarily on the soul.

In 2007, Jason Pritchett was a PRCA ranked bull rider, who had a passion for singing country music. He took his music to the tv talent-search program America's Got Talent, where he auditioned for the show's second season with his guitar singing and playing "Live Like You Were Dying". Panelist Piers Morgan buzzed Pritchett, saying he was "nothing more than a cruise ship singer", but co-panelists Sharon Osborne and David Hasselhoff voted him onto the Las Vegas round of the competition. During his run, he told Jerry Springer that his dream was to play the stage of the Grand Ol' Opry. He survived on the program for three weeks, making it to the round of 8, where he was eliminated by being buzzed, once again by Morgan.

After leaving the show, Pritchett was hired by Billy Dean to play guitar in his backing band, the Steel Horses Band. It was as a member of this group that he first got the opportunity to fulfill his dream and play the Opry. After spending 7 years backing Dean, Prichett got the opportunity to step out and front a band, signing with Dean's label BDMG in 2015. He immediately headed into the studio, recording four songs for his self-titled debut EP. Prichett's debut album, Independence Cowboy was released 8 weeks later, and the Missouri native headed out on the road, opening for Tyler Farr, Lee Brice, Thomas Rhett and others on his Buck, Twist and Jerk tour.

When Pritchett released his debut single "Good Show", it debuted higher than any other first week single that week, eventually making it to #16 on the Billboard Country singles chart. And while he continues to play as part of the Steel Horses Band, while playing more and more through out his home state as well as the Nashville area, and has recently signed a contract with Nitro ArenaCross Tour, where he will be the featured opening act at dirt bike events across the country.

The second single from Independence Cowboy is in our spotlight today. Jason Pritchett and "Hung Over You" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll wanna hear it again.
