It's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday and today we turn our focus to a singer that we first met during the auditions for season 10 of American Idol, who got the Golden Ticket to Hollywood, crashing the top-40 in a season where country music took the steering wheel, seeing Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina finish one-two when the smoke cleared. He has appeared in commercials that aired during the Super Bowl, and he has toured the world supporting our armed forces and causes that affect us all.

Jimmie Allen was born and raised in Milton, Delaware. His early influences are are as varied as the state he says raised him. Influences including Darius Rucker, Prince, Rodney Atkins, Matchbox 20 and Montgomery Gentry helped shape an artist who brings a fresh sound and new approach to country music. His appearance on season 10 of American Idol, impressive enough get him to the top-40 in Hollywood, launched him into the spotlight, where getting your foot in the door is only the first of many steps.

So Allen decided to print his own golden ticket, this time destination Nashville, with hard work, non-stop touring and taking any opportunity that came his way. In 2011 Jimmie toured Japan with Armed Forces Entertainment bringing high energy, heart tugging shows to the troops and their families stationed there. When there weren't enough musical job coming his way, he decided to take up acting. He was featured in a Diet Coke ad with Taylor Swift, which opened a few doors, including connections that let to a song Allen co-wrote being featured in a Super Bowl commercial.

In 2015 Allen made several strong appearances, including Red Gorilla Music Festival, the Universal Music Showcase, Dewey Beach Music Fest, and Summerfest in Wisconsin.  He has had the opportunity to play various charity events for organizations such as Tuesday's Children, VH1 Save the Music, The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, Project Common Bond, and many more.

Recently, Jimmy has had the opportunity to write and record with one of his early musical heroes, Rodney Atkins. This opportunity has led to Allen being in our spotlight today. Jimmie's debut single "Front Lawn" is today's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
