Today's featured artist comes from an area that is quickly becoming a hot-bed for young singer/songwriters in country music, Northern California.

John Pardi was born and raised in the northern California town of Dixon, 23 miles southwest of the state capital, Sacramento. Originally called Dicksonville, the town was founded during the California Goldrush, on 10 acres of land donated by Thomas Dickson. The area is most famous for the Guinness certified world record largest temporary crop maze, Cool Patch Pumpkins 60-acre corn maze.

But John Pardi his making his own name as a native son of Dixon. His first big break came in 2010, when he was signed by Capitol Records and immediately sent out by the label as the opening act for Dierks Bentley's Up On The Ridge tour. In March of 2012, Pardi released his debut single "Missin' You Crazy", the song debuting at #58 on the Billboard country chart, peaking at #29. His second single, "Up All Night" was released a year later, and became Pardi's first top-10 hit.

Pardi's debut album Write You A Song was released in January of 2014 and featured his first two singles. Simultaneously, Capitol Nashville released the third single from the album, "What I Can't Put Down", which peaked at #34. Capitol Nashville realized that the back-log of music from the original Write You A Song sessions was going to waste, so six songs that were written and recorded for the album, but not included on the final release, were compiled into a six-song EP, The B Sides, 2011-2014, which was released in May of this year.

During 2014, Pardi toured as the opening act on Alan Jackson's "Keeping It Country" tour and Dierks Bentley's "Riser" tour. He is getting to kick off a co-headlining tour with the Brothers Osborne, while preparing his second album.

The first single from that project is in our spotlight today. John Pardi and "Head Over Boots" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
