Today we feature an artist who got his break when he signed his first recording contract in 2010, immediately being sent out on tour by his label as Dierks Bentley's opening act. An artist with a traditional country sound, born and bred in west coast honkey-tonks.

Jon Pardi grew up in the small northern California town of Dixon, but knew early in life his road would lead him to Nashville. He began writing country music at age 12, and by 14 had joined his first band. Hard work was always in his blood, and while he was never afraid of getting his hands dirty (he worked in a grocery store, a car dealership, on a ranch, as a lifeguard and as a heavy machine operator), he preferred to have his hands on his guitar. Jon moved to Nashville at 19, immediately diving into the local songwriting community in Music City.

Pardi worked hard during the day, learning and honing his trade at night, working with established Nashville writers Bart Butler and Brice Long. In 2010 the hard work paid off when the singer was signed by Capitol Records Nashville, who immediately sent him on tour with label-mate Dierks Bentley, before the youngster had even been in the studio. While on tour he compiled songs for the time he would hit the studio. In 2012,

Pardi released his debut single, "Missin' You Crazy", which peaked at #29 on the Billboard Country Music Charts. He would follow it up with three more singles, including his first top-10 hit, "Up All Night". All four of the singles would be featured on his 2014 debut album Write You A Song.

In 2016, Jon has released his follow up album, California Sunrise, which features his first number one single, "Head Over Boots". The album, produced by Butler, was recorded live with Pardi's tour band behind him. It debuted on June 17th on the top of the Billboard Country Albums chart, Pardi's first #1 album. The album pays tribute to his California roots, while staying true to his traditional country style.

The second single from California Sunrise is in our spotlight today. Jon Pardi and "Dirt On My Boots" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
