Today we turn our focus to an artist who moved Nashville in 2002 after joining his uncle's country rock band, and was told to be patient. The artist was born and raised in the small Arkansas town of Poyen, a town about of about 270 about an hour southwest of the state capital of Little Rock.

After graduating from Poyen High School in 1992, Justin Moore decided to chase his musical dreams, by joining a country rock band founded by his uncle. In 2002 Justin and the band moved to Nashville, and one of the first people he met was aspiring producer Jeremy Stover, who introduced him to Scott Borchetta, an record industry executive planning on starting his own record label. Borchetta promised Moore a record contract if he would be patient.

True to his word, Borchetta signed Moore to The Valory Record Group in 2008, a division of the label Borchetta began, The Big Machine Record Group. Soon after, the label released Moore's first single, "Back That Thing Up" (co-written by Randy Houser), which peaked at #38 on the country charts. Moore continued working on his debut album, which became part of a special promotion by the label called So You Want To Be A Record Company Executive, in which songs Moore had recorded were placed on social media sights,

inviting people to create play lists of their 10 favorite of Moore's songs. The top 10 chosen song were then put on the final cut of Moore's debut album.

One of the song's chosen "Small Town U.S.A." became Moore's next single, which was released in February of 2009 as the lead for Moore's self-titled debut album. The album debuted at #3 on the County Albums chart in August, while the single hit #1 in October. The promotion of the single, which started in Moore's hometown, included acoustic performances at several WalMart locations and small towns throughout the south. The album would feature two more top-20 singles.

Moore has since released three more albums with Valory/Big Machine, hitting the top of the country singles chart three more times. He has managed to toe the line separating modern country and the classic sound. He makes no apologies for letting his red neck show more often than not, but still can sing about everything from small towns, to heaven, to the occasional booty shaker.

Moore's fourth album, Kinda Don't Care was released in August; the album led by the single "You Look Like I Need A Drink", which became Moore's 4th chart-topper. The second single from the album is in our spotlight today. Justin Moore and "Somebody Else Will" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
